Run Rate Calculator

Calculate a cricket innings run rate from runs scored and legal balls bowled. Enter completed overs and balls in the current over separately to avoid the common mistake of treating 17.4 overs as 17.4 decimal overs.

How to use

  1. Enter total runs scored.
  2. Enter completed overs bowled.
  3. Enter balls bowled in the current over (0–5).
  4. Click Calculate to see the run rate.

Worked Example

Scenario: A team scores 120 runs in 15 overs and 2 balls.

Calculation: 15 overs + 2 balls = 15.33 decimal overs (92 legal balls). Run rate = 120 ÷ 15.33 = 7.83 runs per over.

Enter: Runs = 120, Overs = 15, Balls = 2

Important: Decimal Overs Trap

In cricket notation, 17.3 overs means 17 completed overs plus 3 balls — not 17.3 decimal overs. Always enter overs and balls separately to get an accurate run rate.
